Travel Insurance
Medical emergencies, cancelled trips and lost baggage — covered before the journey starts.
A medical emergency in another country can cost several lakh rupees, and many countries will not even issue a visa without proof of travel insurance. For a small one-time premium, the whole trip is protected.
Paydeer retailers can issue single-trip, multi-trip, student and family travel policies for both domestic and international journeys, within minutes of the customer walking in.

What Travel Insurance Covers
- Emergency medical treatment and hospitalisation while travelling.
- Medical evacuation and repatriation back to India.
- Trip cancellation, curtailment and missed connecting flights.
- Loss, delay or damage of checked-in baggage.
- Loss of passport and the cost of getting an emergency replacement.
- Personal accident cover and personal liability abroad.
- Emergency cash assistance in case of theft or robbery.
Why It Matters
Several countries — the entire Schengen area among them — make travel insurance a compulsory condition for granting a visa, with a minimum medical cover specified. Even where it is not mandatory, a single hospital visit abroad usually costs more than the premium of a hundred policies.
For the retailer, travel insurance is a quick, high-value sale with almost no service overhead: the policy is issued digitally and there is nothing to inspect or verify afterwards.
F.A.Q
Frequently Asked Questions
-
When should travel insurance be bought?
Ideally as soon as the tickets are booked. Buying early is what makes trip cancellation cover useful — a policy bought on the day of departure cannot cover a cancellation that has already happened.
-
Is travel insurance mandatory for a visa?
For Schengen countries and several others it is compulsory, with a minimum medical cover specified by the embassy. For many destinations it is optional but strongly advised.
-
Does it cover a pre-existing illness?
Standard travel policies cover only a life-threatening emergency arising out of a pre-existing condition, and not planned treatment. Plans with wider pre-existing disease cover are available at a higher premium.
-
What if the airline loses my baggage?
The policy pays a fixed amount for delayed baggage after the specified number of hours, and compensates for permanently lost checked-in baggage as per the sum insured.
-
Can a policy be extended while I am already abroad?
Most insurers allow one extension if the request is made before the current policy expires and there is no pending claim. A Paydeer retailer can process the extension request on the customer’s behalf.
